Urban Warrior Training

Urban Warrior is a 4 week program offering two high intensity interval classes a week. This program is modeled after military style boot camps and forms of urban style training. CIT (Counselor in Training) Program
$800 Members and Non-Members
$275 for Individual Sessions
If you are 14-15 years of age and want to start taking on more of a leadership role in the camp setting, then our Camp Chai CIT program is for you. All of our CITs this year will go on a 4-day trip to the Shalom Institute Camp Center in Malibu, CA. They will take part in ropes courses, team builders, leadership training and have a great overnight camping experience. Along with all that the Shalom Institute Camp has to offer, the CITs will ride the train, take mountain hikes and go to the beach. The CIT team builder is a great way for your child to get prepared for their responsibilities as a JCC Camp Chai CIT.
Our camp consists of four, 2-week sessions, plus an extra 1-week only session. Any interested CIT will need to commit for a minimum of 2 sessions (does not have to be consecutive) and can choose to do all 4 sessions if space permits. Basketball Camp May 28 - 31

Featuring Cody Toppert and Ganon Baker. This camp is a great chance for boys and girls to work on thier skills to start the summer. We will focus on skills development through the use of proper fundamental and game situations. Individual instruction will include passing, ball handling, post play, defense, rebounding, and reading the game. We will also talk about proper strength and conditioning, work ethic, attitude, teamwork, and more. This is a great opportunity to learn great new skills that will elevate your game. Prepare like the pros and discover your potential.
The cost of the camp will also cover a basketball and T-shirt for each camper. Campers should bring athletic shoes, shorts, tank-top or T-shirt, bathing suit, towel, and a daily sack lunch, drinks and snacks.
Blast off to Science Camp May 28-31

3...2...1...BLAST OFF TO SCIENCE CAMP! This camp will introduce science to campers in a way they have never experienced before. Each day, campers will be involved in hands on hands experiments, fun arts and crafts, and games based on the different areas of science. Campers will enjoy learning about astronomy, geology, paleontology, biology, modern science and technology, and much more!
The week will end with a field trip to Albuquerque's Natural History Museum, Explora Children's Museum, and the National Atomic Museum of Albuquerque. After a week at the JCC's Blast Off to Science Camp, science will never be boring again! Campers need to bring a sack lunch and water daily. Campers must be at least 6 when camp starts!

Start the day at beautiful Heartlane Farms. Campers will learn the fundamentals of horseback riding and care, experience hands-on grooming, feeding, and caring for horses, as well as how to saddle, bridle, and ride. Each morning, campers will be riding approximately an hour and a half. Individualized and group instruction is provided by professional staff. Stiff-soled boots are required for your child's safety and insurance purposes. No tennis shoes. Children are encouraged to bring their own helmet to ensure proper fit. Finish the day with a refreshing splash in the beautiful JCC pool. Bring a swimsuit, sunscreen and towel daily. Parents will drop off and pick up children at the JCC Campus. The JCC will provide transportation to Heartlane Farms. Bring a sack lunch and water bottle daily. You may also bring carrot snacks for your favorite horse!

Due to its outstanding success, Rio Vista will be back again this year to run the number one soccer camp in New Mexico. British-run Rio Vista prides itself on its coaching staff which provides the best soccer education possible. This camp is a must for all soccer players, novice or experienced. An unforgettable week of soccer is planned! Each camper will receive a soccer ball and camp t-shirt. Every player must bring their own shin guards and cleats to camp every day.

Camp Chai includes four structured time periods and two elective time periods taught by specialists in their field. Transformed is a 12-week program that includes hydrostatic body fat testing, 9 personal training sessions, individual nutrition programs, nutrition discussions, and 3 boot camps a week. Transformed offers you the tools and secrets to drastically change and maintain your physique for life. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

PJ and Pancakes

Story time for families sponsored by PJ Library and JFNM. PJ Library provides free current books for Jewish children from 6 mo's to 6 yrs. ALL children are welcome to attend as well as their extended families. Come in PJ's with blankies and bring your favorite stuffed animal! Chocolate chip, banana and regular pancakes will be served along with juice, milk and coffee. We'll divide into small groups according to reading level. Sports Performance is a program is committed to developing athleticism and helping each athlete to reach their potential. The purpose of the program is to build functional strength, endurance, speed, and agility. The program offers group, partner, and personal training. Tests are administered pre and post training to ensure results. You can sign up for pre-determined times as an individual (please see the brochure), or sign up your team at time of your choice, minimum of 6 athletes is needed to form a training group. JCC/JFNM Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Albuquerque will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the JCC (5520 Wyoming Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109). The purpose of the meeting will be to transact regular business of the Association, which will include electing members of the Board of Directors. All JCC members are invited to attend the Annual Meeting and eligible to vote for Board candidates. A Cabaret Night at the J

UPStaged, a troupe of traveling cabaret performers will be presenting the Cabaret: "Love, Lyrics & Laughter", at the J on Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. Join these hilarious Cabaret performers, posing as jaded stars in a nightclub act, who find they are losing their grip on their love lives and their show. Laugh and lament with them as they evolve from sadness to smiles, all the while trying to wend their way back to mental health and musical mastery. The troupe will be performing a variety of musical genres, including Broadway show tunes, ballads and jazz. UPStaged performers include Jackie Bregman, William Dudeck, Courtney Wilgus and Warren Wilgus, accompanied by Joe McCanna on the piano. Chrys Page serves as Musical Director for the show. Performing Arts Camp July 29- August 9

This camp will include jazz, ballet, tumbling, floor gymnastics, arts & crafts, musical theater, song, dance, and choreography class. Children will learn specific songs, dances, and scenes from an actual musical, and, at week's end, children will have the opportunity to put everything they learned together for a big end-of-camp performance. Performing Arts camp is instructed by JCC Children's Dance instructor Sarah Westerlund. Campers need to bring a sack lunch and water daily. Campers must be at least 6 when camp starts!
Art Specialty Camp August 5-9

Lets play with clay and have fun all day! Native American style pottery, clay flutes, and/or drum, masks, and recycled art, are some of the engaging creations that we will be working on together in our five day art camp! Each day we will take some time to greet the sun, practice gratitude, and do a moving meditation to awaken our senses. Awareness of the Earth and Sky will be promoted through our perceptual art making activities. There will be plenty of time for outdoor recreation, so don't forget your bathing suit! Wind permitting, we might even get a chance to make and fly our own kites. To top the week off, we will spend the fifth day on a field trip to the Art Museum and picnic. This camp is taught by a certified elementary art education instructor with MFA in sculpture and BFA in Art Education.

Participants will play fun gym games, time in the Club J and plenty of playground time. There will also be a kids DVD movie daily during lunch. Campers should bring athletic shoes, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, lunch, and drinks & snacks.
Golf Camp at Sandia August 5-9

These comprehensive and exciting lessons will include the basic fundamentals necessary to learn the golf swing and all side-components of golf. They consist of learning the skills required for short game execution, specialty shots, course management and play. In addition, tips are provided on how to effectively get the most out of practice time, and what drills are helpful based on individual skill levels.
Following lunch every day, campers will get actual course play. Campers will work with the highest quality teaching professionals in the area who will instruct them with sound fundamentals to help them quickly reach their golf goals.
Children will need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, hat and golf clubs to camp daily.
Drop off is at 9 am at Sandia Golf Club at the main entrance to the pro shop area. Sandia Golf Club is located at 30 Rainbow Road, NE. Campers will start getting bussed back to the JCC beginning at 3:15 pm. Pick up time is 4 pm.

The JCC OrCaS swim team is a competitive, fun swim team open to boys and girls ages five and over who have achieved at least an intermediate level of swimming ability. The OrCaS are a part of the Sundance Swim League and will compete with other clubs around the state. The swim meets are held every week from the beginning of June to the end of July. The JCC will host the district meet for the Sundance Championships at the end of the season.

A great way to train for personal fitness, swim competitions, and triathlons. Stroke development will be analyzed and competitive skills developed. This class is for 19 years and older. Must have basic knowledge of all four strokes.
Masters Swim instructor Lauren Jojola has been working at the JCC for seven years. She had been a lifeguard, swim lessons instructor, and was the coach for the swim team for five years. Lauren graduated from Sandia High School, where she was on the Varsity swim team all four years. She has participated on swim teams since the age of 4. She has recently graduated college from CNM with an associate's degree in paralegal studies and working at the Schimmel Law Office as a paralegal. Lauren holds the following certifications: Lifeguard, CPR, AED and six first aid certifications.

If you're looking for a great summer job or challenging career that's in demand, the Red Cross Lifeguarding program is the place to start. Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you'll learn patron rescue and surveillance skills, first aid and CPR/AED. Courses are available with a focus on a variety of environments, including pools, waterfronts, waterparks and shallow water attractions. Must pass certain swimming requirements.

Splash Ball is on Sundays from 12:30pm - 1:15pm. Each session is 45 minutes long. Water Polo is a great fitness complement to many other sports as you develop strength, coordination and endurance! Splashball combines your swim skills with ball handling skills. You must have a beginner background in swimming (completed Level 2 Seahorse or above). We'll introduce you to the basic skills and concepts you need to play this exciting game: treading water (Eggbeater), ball handling (dribbling, passing, shooting) all mixed in with a ton of FUN! Don't miss the last class of the session where we put all of our skills together for a fun mini-game!

Water Polo was among the first team sports introduced in the modern day Olympics! Join us for a FUN water polo workout and League experience! We'll introduce you to the basic skills and concepts you need to play this exciting, fast-paced game: treading water (Eggbeater), swimming: (Heads-up Freestyle), ball handling (dribbling, passing, shooting), press defense, increase ball awareness and most importantly game experience. Water polo has many of the characteristics of sports that are played on land, such as soccer and basketball—and it's a great training and fitness complement to other sports as you develop strength, coordination and endurance! Don't forget — our League Rock Wall Day, League BBQ and open water time, and other fun surprises this year!
