A Taste of Honey (ATOH), the annual day of Jewish learning for the New Mexico Jewish community, will celebrate its Eleventh year at the JCC. ATOH is the annual social, cultural and educational event that provides an opportunity to savor Jewish life at its best. Gail Sheehy, legendary author of the worldwide bestseller, Passages, turns the lens on her own passages in this gutsy memoir. In Daring, we follow Sheehy as she overcomes the 'pink ghetto' of newspapers "women's pages" to conquer the gritty "man's world" of New Journalism. Writing for New York Magazine and others, Sheehy walked city streets with hookers to expose violent prostitution, marched with protesters in Northern Ireland, and interviewed Egypt's president Anwar Sadat after he was targeted for assassination. An amazing life told in person by the woman who is living it!

Yoga for Breast Cancer

Sunday, Oct. 25th 12-2 pm Cost: $25 members, $40 non-members

This two-hour workshop will show participants how yoga can help reduce fatigue and improve sleep quality while gently stretching and relaxing the surrounding tissue in breast cancer survivors. Yoga also reduces symptoms of depression and can reduce inflammation significantly improving daily life. Please dress in layers. Yoga mats and blankets will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if desired. Prior approval from your doctor is required and may either be brought to the workshop or emailed ahead of time. Foam Rolling & Myofascial Release: A Great Way To Stretch

Foam Rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) stretching technique that has been embraced throughout the fitness industry. This effective and simple to do technique delivers positive, feel good results. Olympic Weight Lifting Class

4/22-5/29, TUE & THUR, 6-7:00pm, $80 members/$100 Non members

Olympic weight lifting has gained tons of popularity in the recent years, as being featured in many sport specific training programs and Crossfit competitions. Our Olympic weight lifting class concentrates on developing a perfect technique in the snatch and clean and jerk. Ken Keyes is a USA Weightlifting coach and will guide through the foundations of Olympic lifting in a six week, two days per week class. You will learn and develop the fundamentals of a strong squat, technique for the snatch, and power and explosiveness for the clean and jerk. All levels of fitness are welcome and encouraged to take this class!

Art Afterschool: Clay! Draw! Paint! 1st-6th Grade

This is a multi-media art class where creativity and imagination are the name of the game. Based on student interest, we will choose from: ceramics, sculpture, drawing, and painting. Maybe we will do them all! Come away with colorful 2 or 3-dimensional pieces that will make great gifts and can last a lifetime! Beginners through advanced are welcome, as projects will be taught to challenge each child's varied level. 1st - 6th grade $144

Project Chesed

Title 1 Homeless Project - December 21 to March 19, 2015

The largest and most important safety net for homeless children and youth is the public school system, which provides both basic services as well as the education that is necessary to avoid poverty as adults.

Donations: New unopened packages of underwear and socks for Kindergarten through 12th grade students.

Volunteer opportunities: 1) Volunteer to tutor elementary or middle school students; 2) Volunteer on a weekly, monthly, or occasional basis to work in the Homeless Project storeroom, filling backpacks, making up snack packs, preparing grocery sacks, etc.
